Services - Dental Implants

Dental Implants are the most modern tooth replacement treatment and they are the next best thing to real teeth. Implants are relatively permanent, natural-looking, and long-lasting, giving you a smile that you will love for life!

What are Dental Implants?

As an effective artificial tooth, a dental implant is composed of a replacement crown and a root. Implants are surgically placed into the jawbone by a titanium alloy pole. And with it permanently positioned in your jaw, it serves as the holder for the tooth crown.Implants are versatile. If you are missing only one tooth, one dental implant and one crown will do the trick. If you are missing a series of teeth, your dentist will strategically place a few dental implants to support a partial denture on top of it. Meanwhile, for those missing a full set of teeth, we recommend getting All on 4 Dental Implants which simply means there will 4 dental implants, 2 on each jaw, that will support a full denture on top of it.

Getting Dental Implants

Now that we have all the basics covered about Dental Implants, let us now understand how the process goes!

Several factors need to be considered for you to be a suitable implant candidate. Bone volume and density have to be looked into as this will receive the implant. For this reason, osteoporosis and osteoarthritis patients are usually not recommended for implants as they have brittle bones which may cause treatment failure. And as the implant will need to heal, smokers and other comorbidities that will impede bone regeneration are not good implant candidates.

At Crown Dental Clinic, we use a Cone Beam CT scan (CBCT) to precisely plan the treatment and predict how the surgery will go. CBCT images show available bone, thickness of soft tissue, and vital structures. This poses great benefit at minimal radiation risk. With better visualization of the best position of your dental implant, we can guarantee a desirable treatment outcome.

If needed, your dentist may also advise for bone grafting to provide a better foundation for your dental implants.

When all is set, your dentist will use computer-guided surgery to precisely and accurately do your implant surgery. If needed, you will be placed in conscious sedation for painless dental implants. And if you had tooth removal, it is ideal that implant surgery be done immediately.

Once the implant is successfully placed, we will now have to patiently wait for it to fuse with the bone and to properly heal. This should take around 4 to 6 months. We know it sounds too long but this is an important process that guarantees the stability of the implant in your bone.

And when the implant site has fully healed, minor surgery is needed to place the abutment. This will connect the titanium pole to the crown replacement. This is ideally done in a separate procedure to avoid awkward months with an abutment jutting out of your gums while the implant heals.

Abutment healing takes place for 2 weeks. Once the gums heal, your dentist can make digital impressions to make your tooth crown. Natural-looking tooth crowns blend seamlessly with your remaining teeth and should complement your features well!
